Imprint plans adventures, not tours
Imprint Tours attracts the kind of traveler I enjoy: seasoned, curious, and friendly people who want to see a lot of the world. I knew I’d enjoy our destination (Vietnam & Cambodia) immensely for the culture, food, history, and sights, and I did! I found that the fellow travelers and great in-country guides only enhanced the experience
My wife and I first traveled with Reid in 1997, and were there when Imprint Tours was founded. We have been on every Imprint tour offered. We are dedicated followers of the Rick Steve’s Europe Through the Backdoor philosophy of travel. Reid personifies that travel philosophy and, through Imprint, he has expanded it into Africa, Asia and the Pacific. If you enjoy history-oriented and culture-centric travel, you can’t go wrong with Reid and Imprint Tours
The Thai cooking class was a delicious experience. We were given three categories from which to choose our menu of 3 recipes. We were taken to the market to buy the ingredients. We made enough food for our whole tour but alas.... some of them were off having other adventures. I have enjoyed cooking the dishes at home for many different occasions.
I get asked often why I like to travel with Imprint. There are three BIG reasons:
Reid always asks where we would like to go in the future. He encourages feedback and asks for comment on our individual preferences. My friends always ask where I am traveling next. When I tell them, they ask ‘Are you going to see XYZ?’ I always say that I do not worry about the itinerary. If a country warrants a particular area to travel, I can always count on Imprint to be sure it is included
A huge thank you to Imprint Tours for creating the environment during the Southern Safaris Tour. The size of the group was small enough to be housed, fed, and transported easily. Especially because there were 6 children it was helpful to have a small enough group to be able to get to know the other tour members and immediately reach a comfort level of camaraderie among the terrific group of adventurers
I loved the Thailand tour for it’s diverse features: mountains in the north with a fantastic zip line course near Chiang Mai; floating sleeping huts on a national park lake; snorkeling from an island the south coast; exotic foods and what a incredible Thai guide named Ae.
We took a Danube cruise with another company. It was nice but the shore excursions did not provide the learning experience we wanted and were not up to the high standards that we are used to with Imprint Tours and Rick Steve’s. They tended to always end in a shopping expedition. We love the type of traveler that Imprint Tours attracts. They are independent travelers who welcome all tour members, they are fun and they want to learn about everything they are seeing. Imprint Tours will always be our first choice
I’ve gone on several Imprint Tours and always had a great time but Viet Nam was one of the best. I think that is because it was the perfect mix of outdoor/scenic trips; history/museum visits; and cultural activities and performances. And the local guide could not have been better. I loved hearing his personal stories
Pleanprai Floating Guesthouse - OMG again but in a good way. There was nothing about this experience and accomodation, including the floating huts with the mattresses on the floor, that I didn’t absolutely love!
Anatara Sikao Resort - I liked this…much as I hate to admit it. It was a nice respite, beautiful room, beautiful scenery, good food, luxurious. What’s not to like. I’m glad we only stayed a short time. I was ready to leave when we did because beach resorts are…well, beach resorts and we could have been at any beach in the world.
My favorite memory in Myanmar was the sunrise hot air balloon ride over Bagan. Thousands of temples covered the country side — just breathtaking. Reid arranged a magical experience I know few other tour guides would consider. For me his organizing skills and creative itinerary is the reason I feel so comfortable and excited to travel with him again and again
What an awesome adventure our trip to Vietnam was. To this day I am still talking about it and sharing the 2500 pictures I took on the trip (that’s a lot of pictures). I can not say enough good things about my experience. Bon; the local tour guide, was the best part of the trip. His wisdom, candor and true love of his country was in keeping with everything you espouse in your tours. If you could get him every time then you are very fortunate.
In April of 2006, we joined Reid for a tour of Greece [the first Imprint tour]. In the interim between our first and last trip with Reid his exceptional skills as a tour guide had been honed to a high level of expertise. On the Greece tour our accommodations where much more comfortable and his choice of establishments for our group meals were always a gastronomical delight. The years between our first and last trip together had mellowed Reid like a fine wine. He had retained his wonderful sense of humor, infectious laughter, creativity, curiosity, sense of awe, and personal warmth. Reid has become a great friend, not merely a gifted guide
